Dear First Grader, |
|
|
The first day of first grade is almost here! I hope you are as excited as I am to get together for fun, learning, and not one but two field trips the first month of school. Here is a list of supplies you need to bring the first day:
Crayons - (one box of 24 would be great, two more for later in the school year would be helpful)
Pencils - (two dozen sharpened)
Scissors - (sharp and pointed like Fiskars)
Eraser - (2 or more big pink ones)
Glue Sticks - (at least 4)
Bottle of Glue - like Elmers
Water Colors - with rainbow colors
Supply Box - (cigar box size)
Large Box of Kleenex
Large Container of Hand Sanitizer
Twenty dollars - for a class T shirt and field trips
*** Please have your name on everything! That means every pencil, crayon, etc.***
Students do not need markers, colored pencils, rulers, tape, staplers, calculators, spiral notebooks, binders, or pocket folders. Many of these supplies will be provided. Please do not send ink pens.
Students and their families are invited to visit our classroom on Monday between 4 and 6 p.m. It helps to calm Tuesday morning jitters if students can meet their teacher and scout out the environment. I hope everyone can stop by.
See you on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Linda Morris
Helpful Information
For The
First Day of School
Tuesday Morning Before School:
Please fill out the "First Day Survey" and return it to me by 9:05 Tuesday morning.
Class starts at 9:05:
Students should come to room 23 between 8:50 and 9:00 so they can put their things in their desk and begin getting acquainted. Families are welcome to come in the classroom but need to leave quickly when the bell rings at 9:03 so class can begin at 9:05. If your child or you are having anxiety about this separation please try to visit the classroom on Monday afternoon.
After School: (***Very Important***)
I will escort your child to the bus or out to the front of the school to be picked up. If you are picking your child up please meet him or her in front of the school near the, not at the classroom door, by the buses, or on the sidewalk between the buses and the flagpole. Your child will "give me five" and needs to let me know who is picking him or her up before leaving with you. It is important that I see whom each child goes with.
Thank you for your help and for supporting your child's educational experience.

Whenever your child's plans are different, please let me know in writing. This includes going to a friend's house, taking a different bus, or being picked up by a different person. Without a note, I will follow the regular plan for going home.
Thank you. Is there anything else I should know about your child before we begin?
